Cameras with a self timer

Post by sidewalkss8 »

I'm looking to get a camera that has a self timer. I know the 814XLS and 1014XLS have them but I'm looking for a cheaper alternative.

So far I have found these:
Canon 518XL
Minolta XL401 and 601
Sankyo EM60-XL (leaning towards this because it shoots 24fps)

Anyone know of any others?

Also is anyone aware of a cable release mechanism that will do this so I can just use the camera I have now? I have found some intervalometer boxes that will work but they're hundreds of dollars.

Thanks,
Corey

The cable release mechanism should be easy to get. Is it possible to lock the trigger on with what you have now? If so you can probably rig something up electrically with a cable.

The Eumig 860 PMA & 880 PMA have a self timer.
They also have the 24fps speed, interval timer, manual & auto exposure, auto b setting, macro... nice lens too.

I think the same camera was released with Bolex branding too - Bolex 680 Macrozoom I think it was called?

You want a delayed start and then an adjustable run-length?

The unfindable Nikon MT-1 with a proper cable can do it with a NIKON R10 or R8 :)

There is a small design gadget from Agfa which they offered for their Movexoom 3000/4000

There where such devices from Japan too. Somewhat of lesser design :(

Possibly a modern feature laden remote from HongKong might work too but it must be a simple 2.5mm jack version. Not all 2.5mm jacks are the same :(

Which model? Interval is not the same as self-timer

Bolex made a self timer for their Regular 8mm cameras. It should work on any camera that takes a standard mechanical cable release. I have a few and they work great. You can almost always find them for sale on eBay.
