What word says what a colourist does?

Post by carllooper »

The words that keep coming into my mind, but I know are incorrect, are "colourise" and "colourising" (ignoring the superfluous "u" and "s" instead of "z" that Australians, such as myself, insist on maintaining).

... just as I was about to post this message the following answer occured to me:

"Bob will colour the film", or "Alice is colouring the film".

In retrospect the answer seems so obvious I have no idea how it became a question. Just one of those days I guess.

I think I've seen it referred to as 'colouring'.

But more commonly in my experience it's called 'grading'. Maybe there is another term though?

E.g.
"Bob will grade the film", or "Alice is grading the film".

It is grading, or color grading.

Agreed. Our Color Grader in Seattle Eric Rosen of Lightpress did our Super 8mm scans as well as DaVinci color grading. I highly recommend him.

I posted several screenshots on this Filmshooting thread.
