Steve, you are an artist. I loved your Seattle film, and judging from the
teaser, the Ice Harvesters movie should be great too. While I won't go so
far to say that this little ditty is a classic but it was visually and aurally
interesting. Its a good little art film but as a demo reel its freaking great.
Demo reels are kinda of a weird and awkward beast. They are usually
dull, with some epic and pretentious music awkwardly cutting to out of context beauty shots.
What where the music tracks you used?

...hey, thanks. Very encouraging responses. I appreciate the comments.
It's a music-driven thing (as most demo-reels are) The music is from a fantastic collaboration: Kronos Quartet and Cafe Tacuba on the 2002 record "Nuevo". The track is called "12/12" (it is a 10 minute track so my use of it is partial). I love this record.
learn more about it here:
http://kronosquartet.org/records/indiv.php?id=108
On the technical side:
It's almost all black and white super 8 with a couple color shots that I desaturated and a couple of 16mm shots. The spokes are 16mm plus-x and the shot of the guy gazing at the sky glassy-eyed is 16mm 7201 desaturated. Some of it is hand processed super 8.
The transfers were made by CinePost in Atlanta and Flying Spot in Seattle. (mostly CinePost) The opening portrait was shot with an Angeniuex 10mm lens on a Beaulieu 4008ZMII (collimation is pure luck)
Again, thanks for the reactions.

...I haven't made use of Youtube much. Here is a link to the finished cut of this short. I have titled it "Scaffolds".
