std 8mm stock

I'm thinking about trying my Agfa standard 8mm camera from the 30s, however its seems to be impossible to find filmstock for it. I know that foma still makes their b&w reversal stock for it, but all I can find is the DS8 version or the Double 8 version.

So does anyone know of a good place in europe where theyre sell std 8mm stock? Ive only found a strange 10ASA stock at widescreencentre:

You are kidding right? 8mm is easy to find...google John Schwind - he sells international from what I understand...and paypal if I am not mistaken.

Is shipping that expensive from the US to Sweden? I know going the other way it can run $70US but I figure its cheaper going TO you from here...hence the Schwind recommendation...

Standard8=Regular8=Normal8=Double8... all are the very same

DS8 (Double Super8), S8 (Super8), Single8 are another thing...

As mentioned before, try Wittner-Kinotechnik, or Andec (both in Germany) for example.

Thank you all for your help, but it seems as though I wont find any film... You see my camera takes 8mm wide film, not the 16mm wide that goes through the camera twice, hence the name double 8. Acording to wikipedia, this format is called straight 8 invented by Bell & howell in 1935.

Ah! I think I have the answer here! Kahlfilm website states that it does 1x8mm film rolls in addition to Super 8, 2x8mm and DS8. This must be the old Straight 8 format, right?

Muckymuck, thanks for that link, i thought all hope was lost! It seems right as it does say 1x8mm, but ill have to try it before Ill believe it.

It says it's the first 8mm film camera from Agfa and it's called die Movex 8 (1937)

I cant help to think that a lot of the 8mm footage people shot of Hitler, was shot on this camera...

When I ordered std-8 film from John Schwind a couple of years back it was actually cheaper including postage than anywhere I could find to buy it here in the UK or in Europe. Not sure if this is still the case but probably so.

I can ship one 25 ft spool to most places in Europe for about $6.00 by Postal Service First Class. Check the Postal service website for an idea on the cost of shipping. There are three classes, Express mail, priority mail and first class. Express mail starts at about $25.00. Priority at about $12.00 and first class at $1.00 but most film shipment are much to heavy to be shipped at $1.00. So $6.00 is more realistic.
