Did you happen to purchase the WD-43 and TL-43 43mm Canon lenses?
If so, how well do they work? I'd be curious how well the 1.7x telephoto works with theHV20 10x zoom when focused on a workprinter image.

No, I did not get any extras. I will probably get a wide angle adapter but honestly with the wide screen option enabled its plenty wide enough for what I will use it for.

How much control do you with regards to zoom speed control? The Sony HC1 minimum zoom speed was too fast.
Have you played with the zoom speed of an HC1, can you make a fair comparison?

There are three speeds available. I have not played with them extencivly so I cant comment yet. By the way, here is a link to an article and video clip about how some DP's use HDV in film productions.

I have analyzed the DivX Collie clip with Media Info and it says:
Aspect Ratio : 16/9
Framerate : 23.975 fps
FrameCount : 255
Resolution : 8 bits
Chroma : 4:2:0
Interlacement : PPF
Interlacement : Progressive
I clearly says 'progressive' but what is 'PPF' ?
Nice dog
Here we say 'a Lassie' (remember?)
Good quality clip, too.
It plays fine in Zoomplayer, virtualDub etc..
No interlacing visible here.
Paul, do you have plans to use this camera for telecine?
Fred.

no, it's 29.97 native. there are no players i'm aware of that adds pulldown to progressive material no matter what you force them to or not. as for the avi clip, that's indeed 24p but nobody has complained about artifacts in that either...paulcotto wrote:Its formated for 24P so if your player is forcing any other frame rate that would explain the artifacts.

Then everyone should go out and buy a Mac
Then the world would be in harmony. By the way, here is a link to an article and video clip about how one DP uses HDV in his productions.

I wonder if there are any decks out there that use this HDV 24P format. While uncompressed is amazing, most of my work in DV is fine for non-broadcast purposes.
I'd like to transfer some HDCAM film masters to this format (and some uncompressed HD Quicktime files) and see how the editing works in Final Cut. I often find myself editing on a laptop on location for corporate gigs and it would be nice to cut in HD since so many companies are using HD projectors at conferences.

Penn Camera has the HV20 for $999 on the shelf.

I demo'd one today, the HV20's minimum zoom speed is much much slower than that of the Sony HVR-A1U/HC1, nice camera.

It has audio levels on the view screen, 70 and 100% zebra bars and full control of all video settings. The only thing that would make it better is if I could put my Pentax screw mout lenses on it. It even has manual focus via a servo knob. I am very happy with it so far.
