Velvia 50D? A good excuse to start shooting again?

Velvia 50D? A good excuse to start shooting again?

Pretty much forgot about motion picture the entire winter. I've been thinking about giving Velvia 50D (from Spectra) a go but I want some more user feedback before I dig out my gear and order a roll.

I hear grain is on-par with K40. Does it really offer more latitude?
How's the color balance?
Cartridge stability?

Check out T-Scan's stills. As soon as I get my sh*t together I'll post some of my transferred footage as well. The grain is virtually nil...unbelievably gorgeous footage. A pro DP thought some of my footage was 16mm! Of course, that won't satisfy those who still cry over the "archival properties" of K40 but if you don't mind that it's a blast.

the 4th image and next two, on the next page, are some velvia frames i transferred on the work printer. you won't think about K40 much after projecting some of this stuff.
100D and Vision 3 please

Can it be purchased sans processing and processed at home E6?

My ideal stock is still Vision2 50D (come on Kodak, you can do it)
but I would be tempted to try Velvia if the rumors about improved latitude conpared to K40 are true. I never really had any issues about the grain in properly exposed K40.

Are you gettting stable images from these carts too?

No stability problems here. Have you tried the 50D neg from Pro 8mm?

I've shot six carts of Velvia 50D and plan on shooting more. It is absolutely beautiful. Blows away K40 and 64T. I mean BLOWS them away. Properly exposed, this stuff can look like 16mm.
