This Nizo 801M worth the price?

This Nizo 801M worth the price?
I'm in the market for a more deluxe Super 8 camera and had been looking
for a 814XL-S but this local auction for a Nizo 801 Macro caught my eye:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NIZO-801-MACRO-STUD ... dZViewItem
Are the 801M's really worth close to the $585 starting bid? I knew Nizo's
where among the most pricey cameras and the seller is a dealer but I
didn't think the cameras would fetch as much or more than a Canon
1014XL-S.

No. You can buy a working R10 or Bauer S715XL for half that price.woods01 wrote:Are the 801M's really worth close to the $585 starting bid?
Hi,
That's what the wiki says:
"Recently paid in eBay net auction: $195 eBay 8/1999"
The close-up lens, the case, the titler and the remote might be worth another US$100.
Some other prices:
http://www.super8film.at/ sells the version without macro for 180 Euro (approx. 180 US$)
In other words: 300 US$ might be okay for the macro-version and those extras, but the current starting bid is too much IMHO.
But I would rather look for a Nizo 4056/4080/6056/6080 since they don't need the rare "PX625"-battery

I use one too, and love mine.
I might disagree with other posters. If this camera is truly brand new, it may be worth that price. (Although, I don't know if lube and conditioning are ever brand new after sitting in a box for 30 years unused.) To pay that, I'd certainly want to know the quality of repair offerings out there, only available to my knowledge thru DuAll.
As for mine, I bought it for next to nothing in non-working condition, fixed a few things and now it's great. I did manage to break something rather severely in the trigger mechanism, which I sort of fixed with solder and tape but mainly just use the remote cable.
Anyway, my $.02,
c.

Nice camera but the price is fairly high. Maybe $300 or so for that setup would be more reasonable. If you look at past sales, that user is frequently selling good condition Nizos at relatively high prices.

The 801 would be one of my favorite cameras to own, but I recently opted for a black 481 macro in about the same condition. paid $220, which is almost high... has everything the 801 has, but with half the zoom... not too important for me, I have other cameras with long zoom.
100D and Vision 3 please
Or a Nizo Pro.jpolzfuss wrote: But I would rather look for a Nizo 4056/4080/6056/6080 since they don't need the rare "PX625"-battery
That 801m seems a bit steep, but it is worth what someone will pay for it I suppose. If it is in exceptional condition someone might go for it, but I doubt it, without being able to give it a thorough examination first. I don't recall many nizos going for that kind of price on ebay, but I haven't looked for a while. You may wish to watch out for 801m's on ebay for a while to get an idea of what they go for in various conditions / from particular sellers etc.
There are more expensive ones out there though eg

what what
Who needs the PX625? Use the MR-9 adapter with the silver oxide #386 battery. It works at 1.35V as the original PX625.jpolzfuss wrote: But I would rather look for a Nizo 4056/4080/6056/6080 since they don't need the rare "PX625"-battery
All cameras that use PX1, PX13, PX625 can still be used with the MR-9 and MR-50 adapters along with the Silver Oxide #386 battery.

This is a well known over-priced seller. Divide his prices by 2 or 3 and take it from there.

The PX625 is neither rare, nor expensive. DuAll, Wittner, and Super 8 Stuff all have them (from about $6-$8 US). The cheapest price is to be had at Freestyle, where you can get them for $4.99. Check here. But I would rather look for a Nizo 4056/4080/6056/6080 since they don't need the rare "PX625"-battery
If this is all that's keeping you from going with the 801M, you may want to reconsider.
