Iscomorphot S8 / 2x

Post by jpolzfuss »

Hi!

AFAIK there have been only these two „official“ ways to mount an „Iscomorphot S8 / 2x“ to a projector:

1) a „traditional“ holder:

Advantage: Works for all projectors where the lens isn’t hidden on the inside.
Disadvantage: Projector‘s zoom range reduced by vignetting.

2) a „special projection lens“ with an integrated mount for the scope lens (scope lens (right) not mounted in this image):

Advantage: No separate holder needed. No vignetting.
Disadvantages: Only works for certain projectors as the „special lens“ is only accepted by ones that take „Bauer style“-lenses and that have enough space for it. And of course, you cannot zoom anymore as the „special lens“ is a modified „Isco Kiptagon 1.3/20“.

Both ways shown together on the same image - this time, the scope lens is screwed into to Kiptagon:

Do you know of other ways advertised/produced by Isco? Maybe there have also been other special lenses, e.g. for „Yelco style“ projectors...

Take care,
Jörg

Are all projection lenses like these also suitable for filming?

I have one but there is little to go about unless one can film your own beach scenes.
Make one wonder if it would work for a MINOX 8x11 too :)

Or is it more common to watch El Cid in cinemascope from super-8?
Kind regards,

André

Hi!

Theoretically, you could use all anamorphic lenses for both filming and projecting. However, not all anamorphics are equally suited (minimum distance for focusing, bulkiness, weight, form factor, ...). E.g. this Iscomorphot isn’t the best for filming.

If you would like to have a 2x anamorphic lens for both purposes, then I would recommend the „Bell & Howell 2x“ that was made by Kowa or the „Kowa 16H“ that was also sold as „Kowa 8Z“ or „Elmoscope II“. But be aware that you will have to always focus both lenses (camera/projector and anamorphic).

The „B&H 2x“ attached to a Quarz DS8-3 via a step-up-Ring in 2020:
