Re: Retro-8 Film Scanner Review

Maybe this "Glenn Cross" is Alex from previous years! I remember Alex used to try to undermine Rogers units out of spite. Then again, it might be a collective effort of high end production houses that see the future threat to their business of high priced transfers. Being the hopeless cons...

What are they ever thinking? If we knew then we might get a clue to their seemingly capricious nature!

Re: Locating Canon repair manuals-as difficult as the Holy G

I don't know if this information is still relevant since it was obtained several years ago, but try this: INFOTECH box 370884 Denver, Colorado 80237-0884 (303) 752 9270 It might just be series of exploded diagrams and parts listings and not a lot of instruction.

They are typically on micro fiche. Some companies sell them and I believe even Canon can provide them for you. But they are very technical and not for the amateur.

Yeah, its just a shame that Spectra no longer does camera repairs anymore. They did a great job on my 1014AZE.

Re: super 8 HDR Video

Yes, It looked very familiar to me because my father also shot Super8 footage of it when he, my mother and sister went to Germany for a summer vacation when we lived in Europe. I had the opportunity to go but as a kid I did not appreciate the value of it and decided to stay with some friends. Now, I...

Re: New Retro 8 sample clip

Actually, it stands for "Roger". It was a coffee cup my girlfriend gave me and the whole shoot was rather improvised and last minute. The girl in the video is named Hana and she's my girlfriend's youngest daughter, who was visiting for a week but was leaving the next morning. Very sweet a...

Re: Agfa 200D development - milky to clear?

I just saw some Agfa 200 super 8 on youtube. I don't think it is that bad. Sure, it is a grainy stock but it is most apparent when you have a scene will all one color such as a lot of sky in the background or all water. I'll bet John could sell a lot of this in Regular 8mm.

Re: Kodak exits bankrupcy

Yeah, I realize that origination is still popular (Tarantino says he'll quit film making if he cannot shoot on film) but the prints comprise a significant portion of film usage. Maybe more than the production. That is a significant decline. I think this will increase the price because it pulls film ...

Re: Kodak exits bankrupcy

With the push towards digital in Hollywood and with digital projectors in the theaters, Motion picture film use will decline. Imagine how much less film will be used if countless film prints don't have to be made for film distribution.
