Re: Are D-mount lenses too small for super 8?

Bolex h8 rex4 shares the same lens mount as DS8. so the gate in fact is a super8 gate and the R8 gate is just a crop of the DS8 version. If you take out the lens of your H8 rex4, and open the beam spliter you will see it. We disagree about terminology. A ‘gate’ is, in my view, the aper...

Re: Are D-mount lenses too small for super 8?

For example, the film gate of all bolex H8 double 8 cameras , non reflex(D mount) and reflex models("special" C mount), are not on the centre of the lens mount. It shares the same position as DS8 version of H8 reflex, and the non reflex H8 has the same design even it had never had DS 8 ve...

Re: Are D-mount lenses too small for super 8?

Beaulieu's Dbl-8mm reflex cameras used standard D-mount lenses. I had a Beaulieu MR8 and put a Switar 13mm f0.9 D-mount lens on it and it worked beautifully. I don't have any reflex Beaulieu double 8 camera, I read about it's d-mount and flange focus on some forum. Maybe I mixed it with other camer...

Re: Are D-mount lenses too small for super 8?

Theoretically, I think that the D mount lenses could cover the super 8 frame. For example, the film gate of all bolex H8 double 8 cameras , non reflex(D mount) and reflex models("special" C mount), are not on the centre of the lens mount. It shares the same position as DS8 version of H8 re...

Re: No news from Ferrania is not good.

I know this is going to come across as bad tempered but..... It would be good if forum members who are interested subscribed to and read Ferrania's newsletter, checked their website and facebook pages.....then the speculation would be kept to a minimum. They didn't release any news about their prod...

Re: No news from Ferrania is not good.

Seems your posts are only about complaining about Ferrania or other companies. Barely ever something useful to others is presented. I didn't complain any company else than Ferrania. I will keep complain ferrania and I will not forget to say again "to have a nice summer vacation" to ferran...

Re: No news from Ferrania is not good.

A lot of discussion about what film Ferrania should produce but does anyone know what film they will actually produce? My impression from early posts was that they will produce a version of Scotchchrome 100. I contributed to the fund raiser expecting to receive "gifts" of S8 and 16mm film...

Re: No news from Ferrania is not good.

I would like to see how fine grain a modern 25ASA reversal stock could be. I have shot two Kahl NC15 25asa daylight super 8 film and developed as reversal last year, It gives super sharpness and extremely fine grain, however the red color was very weak on this film, green and yellow were OK. People...

Re: No news from Ferrania is not good.

, they are up against the benchmark of Ektachrome 100D. Up against a benchmark of Kodak 100d, pretty low standard then, 100d was the worst stock I've ever exposed in a super 8, 8mm and 16mm camera, un natural colours, blown out highlights and unsharp images, a dreadfully over rated stock. Somewhere...

Re: No news from Ferrania is not good.

1) The majority of Super-8 cameras out today are what they call 25/160 cameras. Older cameras were able to handle the entire gamut of film speeds from 25 to 400, but since higher-speed films were unbearably grainy back then (think Wittnerchrome 200D, but worse), 160 was the upper limit of what ever...

the 3rd summer since the kickstart has arrived. how is the new chiller going? I wish all ferrania-staffs have a good summer and merry chrismas and good easter, and good next summer and..... :D Ha ha ! But trying to be serious, it was obviously a huge undertaking with many unforseen problems. As far...

Maybe it will be a good idea if they release daily report to the public, they should let every body believes that they are at least working every day.

Re: New Kodak Super 8 Camera Preview

K40's demise was indeed the toxic process. I think the E6 Ektachromes and especially the Velvia looked just as good, better than K40. Ferrania is hell bent on delivering an E6 color, so if it's in the ballpark with Velvia or E100D i'd be happy with it. They also plan on stream lining their emulsion...
