Re: With the price of DS8 Cameras no wonder nobody shoots it

I bought a Quarz V DS 8 camera off eBay a couple of years ago. Cost less than £10 - including postage from Germany to the UK.

Just bought it to go with my D8 Quarz collection. Keep meaning to get some film for it.

Re: Kodak Reshuffles Decks

I think gelatine is the basis of the emulsion that is coated onto the base whether it be acetate, polyester or paper.

When gelatine was the core of Kodak's business it made sense to make their own. It must make sense now to buy it in.

This is one of two for sale in the US on eBay. Not expensive. ( Cheaper than a Lomo)

Re: Lomography introduces handcranked 35mm Lomokino Movie Ca

Yashica have been here before in the 1960s. the 'SEQUELLE' is a half frame camera that is electric motor driven. ' Pressing the release takes pictures in rapid succession until the end of the film is reached, when the motor automatically stops.' Which is a quote from the book (Cameras - the facts 19...

Re: Kodak

If Ilford can survive, albit via a few different owners then I expect Kodak will.

Maybe they ought to follow Ilford's back to basics approach - they have just brought out a pin-hole camera!

Stick a dish underneath and it could also be used for processing the film - well maybe not that particular model, but the principle is the same.

Re: negative film?

Is Tri-X cine film different from that sold in 35mm, 120 formats for making prints from?

Re: negative film?

Been there, dunnit, videoed it, reversed it electronically. Cannot say it is great but the processing is much easier than having to reverse the film.
I think I rated it at 200 asa. Cannot remember the developer I used, but any that cope with Tri-X will do.

Re: Building a Super 8 Cartridge

Check out 3D printing! This is technology that could produce a cartridge from a 3D drawing. I think some now use plastics that would be strong enough. At the moment the process is slow and expensive - but remember when laser printers cost millions. It is certainly a technology that is going to make ...

Re: quarz 5 lens quality

The standard 8 ( & double Super 8 ) Quarz 5 has a fixed in position lens while that on the Super 8 Quarz is removable. Also I think there is more than one type of zoom lens available for the Super 8 Quarz. However, I cannot think they can be that different and it is probably down more to the tra...

Re: 8mm black and white film project

Why use the old technology for old things.

Use it for new and really confused historians of the future. When they find your surviving 8mm film of a High Speed Train it will make their day as by then all the digital media will be dust!

Re: What is the current status of re-perforated D/R 8mm film

Mr. Nowill can currently only reperforate 2R 16mm film. He can also perforate unperforated film to 8mm specs. He is currently working on a machine to take 35mm perforated rolls and convert them into one length of 2x8mm, and one of 1x8mm. His next project after that is to build an unperforated 35mm ...

Re: How could I possibly be outbid on eBay?

Only time I noticed sniping was when I won something and realised that there were also last second bids, obviously snipes, that were too low. Always bid you maximum, the odd decimal is a good idea to reduce duplicate bids, and win some lose some. All real auctions, at least here in the UK, allow ind...

4:3 or 16:9 ?

I was visiting someone recently and the TV was on with an old western, in colour showing. It was filling the whole of the 16:9 screen of the HD TV. It was obviously wrong as the image was distorted. He then started telling me that when he watched some films with the HD facility on they did not fill ...

Playing around on Yola making a free web site:
Go yo:

8mmovies.yolasite.com

to see some pictures of some of my cine cameras. Taken a few years ago as the originals are on film, but not so long as these are off the CD of scanned images that came back with the developed film.
