Re: Logmar, Kovats and Hingsberg
I believe it was in 1979 that Arri did introduce a professional Super 8 pin registered camera ( utilizing double S 8mm roll film) at photokina. It looked alot like the 16mm Arri S, unfortunately, it never went into production.

Re: What date was Super8 born?
I recall Super 8 being first announced in January 1965 in Popular Photography magazine. I recall the first Super 8 cameras/projectors in department stores the following spring. At the time, I was a young teenager shooting on a second hand spring wound 8mm camera. The great thing about Super 8 was wi...

Re: Super 8 projector that uses inexpensive bulb?
Any projector that uses the popular EFP 12v 100w lamp.....can use a 50 watt 12v lamp that is available in hardware stores very cheaply...I think at less than half the cost of the EFP...some light loss but still bright in a completely darkened (black) room. Also, with the lower wattage should burn lo...

I think technology will evolve to the point that film manufacturing will become easier and cheaper...something along the lines of the 3D printing evolution. Of course, that maybe 10-15 years away...a whole new generation may rediscover film.

Re: Ferrania is a go!
If you read the manufacturing process on Ferrania's website...their machines seem very inefficient, they produce film in long sheets with only the center 30% of the sheet cut into film with the rest discarded. Somehow that is the only section where the emulsion is uniform. I do not know if Kodak's m...

Well, you're going to burn out alot of projector bulbs...I think sunlight works best because it has ultra violet rays.

With the projector on...look down the lens...is it cloudy?...then you have internal lens fungus which kills the contrast in the picture.
Take the lens out...leave it in direct sunlight and see if it clears...can take days, weeks or even months depending on the infestation.

It maybe this.....film is a real image...you can hold the film up to the light and see the picture...whereas digital is a reconstructed image from 1 and 0s...a simulated image not a real one.

Pawn Stars ...pure fantasy?
Pawn Stars is a cable TV show in the USA. It promotes itself as a "reality TV show". Ocassionaly, I watch a few minutes of this....it always appears to me to be fabricated with unrealistic prices offered by the pawn dealer......I saw a guy with what appeared to be a crude 16mm film camera ...

96% loss in film sales in the last few years........... can be explained by the fact that world wide ..motion pictures theaters have converted to digital projection....35 film prints for the tens of thousands of theaters ( globally) would of accounted for the bulk of film sales.... 35mm motion pictu...

Re: Bolex 18-5 projector has less flicker than others
OK, I understand now...the picture projects fine...its just that the spliced film makes "clicks". Yes, unless the film was spliced with a Bolex splicer (which made a beveled splice at the overlap)... other cement splices do tend to click on the 18-5L. The biggest advantage to using the Bol...

The cement spliced film you have problems with....does it project well on other projectors?
(If so, the problem is something out of adjustment in your 18-5L)
My 18-5L has no problems with cement splices.

Thanks for the tip. I remember buying some 100% natural beeswax from Walgreens...it seemed like vaseline...it also contained petroleum as well. Ever try to return anything to Walgreens?....I had to wait forever for a manager, regular sales clerks cannot do refunds.
