If you have ever seen Mike Jittlov's movie "The Wizard Of Speed And Time" you'll see him displaying how he did the trick of walking horizontally along a wall using the same technique. The resulting effect is seen in the sequence near the end of the film. As well as the flying effect, all d...

Kahl's 8mm deal

Got this email from a fellow filmmaker about Kahl's package deal for 8mm. Maybe a German speaking member here can explain it more clearly or if there is a link to an English site: You've probably seen this but if not, take a look at Kahl Media's site: http://www.kahlfilm.de/ Click on "Shop"...

Yeah, I know, an Internet search did not turn up much. It doesn't look like Chambless carries those anymore. They are more geared to Bolex sales and service now. Brooklyn Camera had them at one time but they haven't answered my email yet. This adapter will probably be as hard to find as a zoom for a...

Movie zoom lens adapter

Since this place has a worldwide membership and 16mm is discussed here I want to ask for a little help. I want to mount my C-mount Pan Cinor zoom lens onto my Kodak Cine Special movie camera which uses S-mount lenses. In other words I need a C-mount to S-mount adapter. They used to be more available...

Thing is I only have the one spool that came with my H-8 camera. The Double 8mm stock I have seen comes on 16mm spools. I don't have an extra spool to wind the film on. And they are hard to come by. Right now I can only shoot 25' spools of film in my H-8. So an adapter is the answer to fit the 16mm ...

Actually I'm a machinist and I was hoping to get my hands on one to copy and make more of them. I have a pretty good idea of the dimensions but I just need a picture to be sure. Can you take pictures of it and send those to me. I don't want you to have to send me the actual thing. If there is enough...

Adapter for Bolex H-8 spools

Because of the lack of new 100' spools for Bolex H-8 cameras I've seen filmstock for this camera being sold on 16mm camera spools. The holes in these spools is different than the ones for the H-8. At one time John Schwind offered an adapter so 16mm spools can be used in H-8 cameras. Does anyone else...

There are supposedly two drive shafts on some Rexes, one 8-frame and one single frame. The 8-frame shaft is the one on the upper left. Though my H-8 Rex only has the 8-frame shaft. It's probably an earlier model. The shaft is in the center of the outer ring which has the holes. There should be a pin...

The most commonly available motor for the Bolex is a variable speed one. They don't maintain a constant enough speed for sync work though. Crystal sync motors are more expensive because of the electronics involved. If you have the single frame shaft on your camera you might be able to sync it with a...

I own several Bolexes including an H-8 and a Double Super8 converted H-8. I can answer some of your questions. There are two variety of handcraks for the "H" series of Bolex. One has the 3mm hole for the earlier models and another has the 4mm hole for the newer models with the single-frame...
