Re: Is it dead here or just me??
It doesn't seem like the board has had that much life in it the last couple months. I guess the main "problem" is the fact that there aren't any new or discontinued products ... . So the only (boring) topics would be the latest home movies or the last eBay-shopping-results... . Jörg Th...

Re: Why many 8mm films buffs skip this Ebay?
Sometimes you just get lucky when other people aren't browsing ebay as much, its a hard to predict market. It helps though to advertise out of ebay, for example I've got a load of sound ektachrome carts on and an agfa moviechrome cart, so I made a post in this forums ebay section to help it get a bi...

Re: Wikipedia pages on my films
Having an imdb page might not be a bad idea, which you can link to from the wiki page. I guess that might give it more legitimacy? The pages look good though, well formatted and lots of actually useful content about the films.

Re: Refillable Russian cassettes
When I send my 100D to meterware to Dwayne's, I just load it back into that plastic bag it comes in (in total darkness of course), seal it up, and send them that with a bit of protection around it. They charged me the same price for that as a cartridge of 64T, and it also was done in a 1 day turnaro...

Re: DIY Telecine: Why switch motors?
At the moment I'd put up with 0.5fps rather than have no telecine capability whatsoever! I would be more than happy with 3fps though, as thats only about 20min for 50' which seems reasonable to me. Especially if I can capture in HD.

Writing on Film

how did they make the writing on the film at the start of this video? I'd love to replicate that in Super 8. Is it scratched out leader? Some sort of selective exposure?

Re: DIY Telecine: Why switch motors?
Thanks Roger, that satisfies my curiousity! It never ceases to amaze me how much thought everyone has put into their machines, to describe it as simply slowing the projector down so individual frames can be captured would be a massive injustice to the amount of work (mentally and physicall...

DIY Telecine: Why switch motors?
I've noticed a lot of diy telecine machines have electronically regulated motors, but take a 'Eumig 610D + cinecap + microswitch + mouse' like the super8telecine.co.uk example, what benefit would changing the motor bring? Fred switched the motor in his, as did Frank Vine. Do Roger's Workprinters hav...

Awesome! I love lightning photography, something that I'd love to get into, but we dont get any visible lightning around here.

Re: 310XL Arrived Today... :(
Agreed. I guess he probably should have checked it out further, since although not a cine photographer he was a still photographer and it wouldn't have been too difficult. Maybe he did and listed it knowing the lightmeter was broken? Who knows, I'd never be able to prove that anyway. I know what you...

Re: 310XL Arrived Today... :(
Did you pay by paypal? If so you could make a paypal claim, should be no problem in getting your money back... Not a bad thing sometimes but I hate the idea of claiming via paypal when a seller didn't deliberately try and mislead me. I once sold an item on ebay and had a Paypal dispute because the ...

Re: 310XL Arrived Today... :(
Upon further examination of a second 310XL ive since bought from Germany, this original camera didn't have a working lightmeter, something the seller never claimed it had (or hadn't), so I guess it would've been a disappointment anyway. No need to further pursue the seller (who declined my request o...

Re: Cinechrome 100D
Its 16mm Kodak 100D, but instead of perfing it as 16mm, Kodak perf it with Super 8 sprockets instead on either side (this is known as Double Super 8). They sell it to quite a few retailers, I know Wittner in Germany buy it as well, as do Pro 8mm, and maybe Spectra (never asked them). Those retailers...
