Re: How to refocus a lens...non-TTL...

Hi, I posted some details on how I sorted out the focus on lens using this method. A small strip cut from an extra thin cigarette paper works very well. You just need to keep it nice and tight when you tape it down. http://www.filmshooting.com/scripts/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=19692&p=183734...

Re: Canon 310 XL question

Hi Rick, I've just had a look through the gate of my 310xl. When inside the house if i point the camera to the wall I can see right through the gate. If I point it at window (it's sunny for a change!) I can't see anything. I'm guessing it has one of those V shaped apertures. I can see it move in to ...

Re: flatbed scanner suggestions?

Hi, I borrowed a friends Epson which had a backlight to scan some super 8. I can remember which model it was now, an old photo perfection model I think. It was about 3 or 4 years ago now. I made a simple Super 8 film holder out of cut up CD cases and super glue, it was fairly straight forward to mak...

Re: Filter Retracting Screw

I've seen a few of cameras that have a filter retraction screw (mostly Sankyo cameras), the ones I have seen use the same screw as the tripod mount on the bottom - 1/4inch.

If you have a tripod, monopod, shoulder pod... you could try the screw and see if it fits.

Re: Bolex P1 or P2 Manual?

If you can't find one for free to download I would recommend buying the Focal Camera Guide - Bolex 8 Guide. Its a 120 page book! It won't cost much more than buying a manual. It has very detailed info on the cameras and functions. I think it is better than the actual camera manual! You can buy a cop...

Re: a video camera fot telecine

There are other cameras out there with a c-mount that seem similar to mine. If you search something like - "c mount" usb - on ebay you should find some. There are loads of little cameras like this. They often get used with microscopes and telescopes. I've seen them on ebay for under £10...

Re: a video camera fot telecine

I use a 3mp colour Mightex camera. (I think is was cheaper than £300 but then the exchange rate was better then too) I use this one- http://www.mightexsystems.com/family_info.php?cPath=1_37_43&categories_id=43 You can download the software for it under the download section in the link above,s...

Re: The lightest super8 camera you know

The Canon 310xl is a very light camera and great for low light work, but it has not got a range finder so to foucs it you need a measure or just guess. The Canon 514xl is not as light, but only has a little more weight. It has a range finder and a larger zoom range. The 310xl has a f1.0 lens and the...

CRT Video Monitors for colour correction.

Hello. I'm needing something to help me with monitoring my Super 8 transfers, during capture and post correction. I was looking at buying a small 9-15 inch CRT Broadcast Video monitor (9-10 inch would be best, as I'm low on space) and I was after some advice. I currently balance all the levels and c...

Re: UK import duties on equipment from the USA

Hi, When I have bought equipment from outside the EU I have been charged £8-£12 on top of the VAT. It depends on who delivers it. When stuff got delivered by Royal Mail/Parcel Force the charge was around £8. I got charged around £12 once, I can't remember who charged it, UPS or DHL I thi...

Re: Shutter opening degrees for Nizo & Beaulieu.

Hello! If the s2008 is the same as the 4008zm then the shutter speeds are as follows- FPS - Seconds 2 = 1/7 4 = 1/15 8 = 1/30 18 = 1/65 25 = 1/87 36 = 1/130 50 = 1/175 I have a Nizo 561 macro and that is very difficult to use with a hand held meter. The camera has always given great results on auto ...

Re: Beaulieu weird spots in frame?

I got the internal filters replaced on mine. I don't know how common this problem is, or how likely it is to occur / re-occur? If the spots are due to the filters, then you could just get them replaced as part of the service (it will most likely be a lot cheaper than getting the c mount adjusted). I...
