Re: Kodak Digital Team accepting reservations for new S8 cam
Just signed up for this. The camera may be far from perfect, but let's be realistic: how often do I actually use any fancy features that other cameras offer me? - There's the odd occasion here and there, but on the whole, standard features tend to be perfectly sufficient. The idea of getting a NEW c...

Re: Chinon 722 cartridge type?
Welcome to the forum, Britt. In theory, any Super 8 cartridge (including the one you were looking at) should fit your camera. However, I think the Chinon 722 has only automatic exposure. Is this still working? If it isn't, well, it might be easiest to go for a different camera (although you could tr...

Re: Which external light meter do you use/recommend?
I use a Weston Master ciné light meter that's probably been produced around 1960 and cost me 10 pounds or so on ebay about 10 years ago. Still works alright. Selenium cells, so no battery needed, which is great when you're using it on your travels. The only thing to watch out for is that it measu...

Re: newbie has Super 8 questions
Welcome to the forum! To answer your question: Of the films listed on the page you quote, the Fomapan is the only one that won't fit a Kodak M2 camera. For indoors use, the best film will be 500T, but it's very grainy - best used only for close-ups rather than wide shots. 200T (for colour shooting) ...

In My Image - second viewing
A few years ago, I bought a copy of the feature film DVD 'In My Image' by our very own Scot McPhie, a Super 8 film made way back in 2003. When I first watched it, I got rather distracted by technical aspects of the film; I found the story to be very slow and, especially in the sequences of elaborati...

Re: straight 8 is open for 2016
Yes, I'm planning to enter Straight 8 as well this year. So far I've only taken part once in this, back in 2010, when I made it into the top 20 (out of about 100 submissions) with my short film The Naked Animator https://vimeo.com/13717202 (the vimeo version is slightly modified, as the soundtrack w...

Re: Kodak awakens, new S8 camera announced at CES '16
I've been following this thread (and the other ones about this new camera) with a lot of interest, and there's one thing I just don't get. Why keep folks banging on about this camera being likely to produce blurry / out-of-focus pictures? Looking at the specs, it comes with a fixed focus 6mm prime l...

Re: What does this number at the end of the film mean?
I guess it's to do with batch numbers. There's an explanation of the numbers for 16mm film on this page here: http://www.cinematography.com/index.php?showtopic=44243

Re: Super8data.com?
How difficult is it and how much does it possibly cost to keep up a .com domain? As the owner of another .com domain (albeit a much less popular one), I can assure you that the cost of keeping up a .com domain is next to nothing. When it comes to transferring an existing .com domain from one owner ...

Re: Where are all the women of the filmshooting forum?
I have often wondered myself why it is so rare that women post on this forum - after all, there are quite a few women (like Dagie Brundert) making 8mm films. Maybe they are just too busy making their films to be on this forum? Well, whatever the reason, let's just remember the Chinese proverb: It's ...

Re: Jordan 8mm film (with a little help from 35mm stills)
Well, over a year on from this, the mystery of the vertical line(s) in my Jordan film has been solved. I recently took my Bolex B8 to Colorado, after having given the film gate a good clean. However, the films I shot there just came back with even worse scratches. Having just had another good look a...

Re: Camera eye candy.
Apart from the candy red finish, this camera has been around for quite a while. I bought my specimen (through Wittner) in 2011 - obviously in rather un-fancy grey finish of the camera body. Also, mine came with a different lens (Schneider-Kreuznach f1.8/6-66mm). This 50th anniversary edition seems t...

Re: Kahlfilm: Scotch Chrome /Ferrania Avaiable in 8 S8 DS8 1
I would like to read the original Friedemann piece. The crooked google English is just too much. Yes, I'd be quite interested in this as well. I can make sense of the Neudeutsch (new German) word "gefoggt", and I know what "Rumpatzen" and 'Kauzigkeit" mean, but "still ...

Re: processing labs in UK
I can indeed confirm that we process double 8 and Super 8 reversal film in the UK :) Best Kevin So you do indeed! Somehow the fact you do double 8 processing (or Standard 8 / Regular 8 / and whatever else people call it) has completely passed my by - although, having now looked through your website...

Re: processing labs in UK
Coming back to John's original question about labs processing B/W reversal double 8mm, I'm not aware of any lab other than Andec that provides this service on my side of the Atlantic.
