Re: First Test Reel with Bolex H16 - LOST LOOP!

Only had it happen with the 400 ' mags and were the main reason why I sold them. For myself, I think the Bolex is better off using 100' rolls.

Re: First Test Reel with Bolex H16 - LOST LOOP!

Also, be careful not to lay the camera body on it's side or tilt it too extremely once it's loaded. I did that with my EBM once and lost lost the majority of my footage. It might be good to buy a large changing bag just so you can "feel about" and make sure the film is in place.

Re: Canon 5D MK II

. Personally, I don't like both the technology of the hardware and the software being combined. It makes it very difficult to justify the purchase of any professional digital camera knowing tomorrow it will be a pile of junk. If they could solve this issue, I would embrace new cameras more... Very ...

True Motion

Dose anyone know about this True Motion technology thats been incorporated into next gen players? Bay far it's the worse "technological" advancement I have seen to date, and from what I can tell it, takes the footage and digitizes it even more giving it a 3-D' ish quality to the images and...

Re: Red Scarlet

I must say, I really like the idea of a " super 8 size" 3K camera that is at a somewhat affordable cost of $3000. It also makes me think if they can put out a camera with those specs at that price, someone should be able to create a new 16mm/ or S16mm camera( wishfull dreaming  )

Red Scarlet

Personally, I'm not too interested in all the "flavor of the month" HD cameras that seem to be popping up all the time--However, this one has really made me take notice:

Re: Schneider vs Switar Primes

Schneider lenses supposely give a sort of retro quality to the images(especially in B&W) G.Love and Special Sauces music video " Cold Beverage" was shot with a set of Schneider primes.

Re: Gauging Exposure With a DSLR

So you would just set the Shutter and ASA on your DSLR to the exact settings of the film camera? I heard once that you should give a full 1 stop difference if your shooting reversal and maybe a 1/3'rd if its negative do to digital's ultra sensitivity towards light.

Gauging Exposure With a DSLR

I was wondering if anyone here has tried using their DSLR in lieu of their light meter and if you have any tips.

Re: Blasphemy! Question about cheap HD Cameras

Thanks for all the imputs. The only real concern( other then the codecs)would be image motion but other then that I just want something that's kind of low-fi to go with grainy S8. The Speed HD7 looks pretty good to me, so long as I can get it to work in FCP.
