Re: Porn Stars and Super 8 Cameras
Porn's legal to make and own in the US and is protected under the first amendment, but It's illegal to distribute it in some states. Although the majority of porn is made by total hacks ( Ivan not included ) there are some people making some interesting artistic attempts. I know at Vivid Alt they ha...

Re: Sweet Leaf Music Video
If Canon can pay Vincent LaForest for the short he made with the 5D MK II, then Pro 8 should at least give you something in return as your only helping them promote their business.None the less, good job.

Sweet Leaf Music Video
Pro 8 sent a link to a super 8 music video encoded in HD and put on vimeo. Not to bad I must say. In fact, it makes me want to go buy some Vision3 at Kodak and have the telecine done at Spectra

Re: Hands on with D90
Yeah, the LaForest stuff is pretty dam good and was the first sign of what the camera is capable of ( it's amazing that he used only the modeling lights from his strobes to light some of the scenes). There's a lot of BTS footage and info on his blog as well:

Why not shoot both? Super and video complements one another perfectly IMHO. Also, with the new DSLR's on to the market you can get some amazing video results. Check out what this guy did with a Nikon D90:

I really liked how the exterior footage worked with the music. Good stuff.

Re: Ikonoskop DII: discussion on new camera
I'm pretty dam impressed with the 5D MK II to the point I'm thinking of trading in my practically brand new 5D to get one. On a side note, I did notice some jello issues when you move the camera about, but word is their going to fix that in a firmware upgrade. I think It's only a mater of time befor...

Your much better off buying an external light meter. Check out the Sekonic L-308's, you can get them for around $100 bucks and less.

Re: 8mm in latest Gus Van Sant film
Great film and some of the best cinematography Christopher Doyle has done( in fact he even has a cameo in one scene ).I loved the skateboard footage but my favorite was the slow motion scene in the shower and how both incredibly revealing and intense it came across depicting the characters inner dil...

Re: 16 mm. What camera to buy
That's why the reflex Bolex also has the side finder. Almost all 16mm cameras are noisy whether spring wound or electric. Unless they're made specifically for sound filming like the Eclair NPR or the CP-16. For stationary shots you not going to have much of a problem, but if you have to move around...

Re: 16 mm. What camera to buy
the one bad thing about Bolex's is the viewfinder. It's a beam splitter prism, so it can be dam hard to see what you shooting when you stop-up or use filters.

Re: that new 13" macbook
I suped up my white Macbook with 2 gig rams sticks and am now running with 4 gigs worth of ram as well as put in a 80 gig 72rpm HD. They may not have a graphic card, but they do have a lot of potential.
