Re: Abrams on why Star Trek was shot on film and not video
I wish somebody would tell Michael Mann that film looks better then digital. His new film Public Enemy scream out loud that it was shot on HD.

You could do almost the same thing Roger recommends with Snapz ProX.

Re: Crap 8mm Releases Vision 3
I can't stress it enough how true that is. I think it can be said that it was Phil Vigeant's politicking back in the late 80s that saved super 8-- that and Toni Treadway's phone calls all the time! More like save it all for himself! These days, Crap 8 would love noting more to see S8 be discontinue...

Re: Canon 814 question
Spectra Films in Los Angeles worked on my 1014 a few years back and did an excellent job. It's will probably cost you around $200-250 but it will be fixed and serviced.

Re: Bolex EBM vs EL : any input on the better cam?
My Scoopic MS viewfinder gets dark as well when I stop down. Although I do notice my 1014 never gets darker when I go with a higher F-stop. I thought maybe it's because Canon made a larger beam splitter to go along with their viewfinders cause it's quite bright.

And when you done talking with pro 8, make sure to buy your film at Kodak and have another lab develop it for you.

Re: The secret to movie financial success?
I think the second most important thing next to the script, is making sure your getting good performances from your actors. If you cast well, it's generally not much of a problem, but when things are going south, your actors are going to be looking towards you for guidance and if you can't or don't ...

Re: The secret to movie financial success?
I don't think much of his films, but I do find his life story very interesting and his success certainly didn't happen over night. He started as a playwright almost twenty years ago and only after his plays became sucessful, did he ventured into filmmaking. He writes, directs, produces, fiances and ...

I think the big advantage to Lomographys success is not only is it a fairly cheap to do compared to shooting motion picture film, but you have many more people doing stills photography.

Re: Porn Stars and Super 8 Cameras
I agree as well. I found a link to some BTS stills of Andrew Blake shooting with what looks like an SR 3 ( I know he/ has shot with a Bolex as well). The pictures of him working have nudity and are a bit explicit so be wary if your at work or around people who might get offended. The rest of the webs...
