Re: Is buying these Fresnels, Kinos and Red Heads a bad idea??
Pick up some PAR 64's. They can put out up to 1k worth of light, they have spot and flood lenses and their super cheap. I see them being used all the time on sets.

Re: Best travel/compact cameras? Your advice plz.
I really like the Russian Quartz 1x8c-2. It uses C-mount lenses, has a wind up motor and easily fits into your palm when you take the handle off. I haven't had much luck with most russian gear but this camera worked like a charm when I used it. wished I kept it...

Re: Rolling Stones video
I'm pretty sure it's 35mm. Just looks like S8 because of the crappy you tube compression. However, "Shine a Light" has some parts of their performance filmed
in S8.
in S8.

" It turns out that, one, he was a lot younger than I thought he was. Two, he's laughing all the way to the bank on the interest which spawned those "silly" tandem cameras. He's been laughing all the way since 1959 when he created Puff the Magic Dragon. That was a huge hit back in th...

] - they look like women who undress to hide themselves, rather than reveal themselves. What are the films like - are they different? Was I expecting too much? Scot I think you are  Blake has said what he does is make erotic home moves and if you look at the BTS scenes and it's just him, with ...

Re: Help! I need a Pressure Plate for my K-3!
Got to agree with Clubdakat. This was the most miserable 16mm camera I have ever used: torn brackets, lost loop. ruined film, ect. It's such a shame because it actually has a mirror shutter just like an Arri. Even the little Russian super 8 Quartz was a better camera! I'll never touch a K-3 ever again.

Re: Andrew Blake Shooting 16mm
He's gone down to 16mm now? For years, all of his pornos loudly trumpeted the fact that they were shot on 35mm film. That was like twenty years ago when He actually had budgets to shoot 35mm. These days, he's really just shooting on his own with maybe a crew of one or two people. Plus super 16 seem...

Re: Nikon D50 with M42 lenses...
Yeah, if you pay $600-$800 for a modern lens for your digital camera, then one would certainly expect that level of quality, compared to the cheaper stock lenses that generally come with a digital camera. But I have an old Hanimex 35mm lens that easily outperforms the stock lens I've come to the co...

Re: Nikon D50 with M42 lenses...
Meaning modern CANON EOS lenses are unreal lenses? Compared to the lenses from 35mm SLRs, I would say that the Canon digital lenses are crap. If a crap lens is still a "real" lens to anyone, then I guess I'm not one to argue. But I'll never use them again. Roger, have you used any of thei...

Andrew Blake Shooting 16mm
I found some very interesting behind-the-scenes footage of Erotic Andrew Blake who is one of few( maybe even the only) who shoots motion picture film in the Adult Industry. Even though Blake 's work is closer to high fashion as he takes his creative queues from photographers like Helmut Newton and G...

Re: feature on super 8, a good idea?
Nikon D90! Nice moves dude. The trailer looks great and nice rhythmic editing. Keep us posted. I know some filmmakers in Seattle who have been blowing up footage from a Canon MK2 but haven't see the print yet. Suerte! Steve I love the still capabilities of the MK II, but was very disapointed by the...

Honestly now, would you say the same thing is it was some random guy shooting a few of his friends ? Other then the fact there's a few celebrities this is pretty much is no/low cost music video shot on the fly just for fun-and even more important- there using super 8. I

Re: Super 8 Music video with Chloe Sevigny
Chloe Sevigny is soooooooooooooo hot. And quite " skilled" in other departments too!   Sonic Youth made several Super 8 video clips - including some Super 8 sound footage on their 'The Year that Punk Broke' documentary/concert. As well as The smashing Pumpkins. They'...
