Re: Why Kodak, Why?
The Kodak online store was not run by Kodak, but by an outside contractor that shipped its products out of Tennessee. The old education store was direct through Kodak, but that's been gone about 2 years. My guess is that the contractor didn't want to deal with stocking thousands of dollars worth of ...

Re: regular 8 TRI-X
At this time Kodak only stocks one variety Regular 8 film, i.e. E100D (2R-1497). Have checked the other manufacturers? Wittner has currently five, i.e. http://www.wittner-kinotechnik.de/katalog/04_filmm/d8_filmm.php How many rolls do you need and what type? The 5 that Wittner has is really only 2. ...

Maybe not for a professional shoot, but it's fine for hobbyist use. Black and white film takes a while to go bad.

Re: E100VS discontinued...What does this mean for E100D?
Stocking up on film is one thing, but if the use of reversal film dwindles, will processing labs remain in business and will chemicals for processing still be manufactured? The nice thing about E-6 chems (as opposed to, say, K-14) is that the formula is not proprietary, so any chemical company wort...

Re: E100VS discontinued...What does this mean for E100D?
I agree with the non-catrastrofic opinions here: - Kodak has ONLY announced discontinuation of 3 reversible films, and in 135 photo: KODAK PROFESSIONAL EKTACHROME E100G Film KODAK PROFESSIONAL EKTACHROME E100VS Film KODAK PROFESSIONAL ELITE Chrome Extra Color 100 Film - There is another fourth whic...

E100VS discontinued...What does this mean for E100D?
Well, it looks like Kodak's first bankruptcy victim on the film front is their E-6 lineup of still films: http://www.kodak.com/global/en/professional/products/colorReversalIndex.jhtml?pq-path=13319/1229 . This doesn't bode well for E100D, especially seeing as it's generally accepted to be similar (i...

Re: List of super 8 processing labs
There's BPS Film Lab in Batavia, IL. They don't have a website, and are kind of slow with E-6, but their B&W reversal is second to none.

Re: Kodak
This is a major bummer. I am glad to hear that Fuji is still doing well. The "hard core " photo shop here in Vancouver started selling more film recently, as Costco etc. got out of the business. It would be great if the market share are all combined into one outfit. The weather here is fi...

Re: Ektachrome 100D film speed notch
Kodak 100D is notched correctly. Wittner 100D was/is notched as 64D/100T, which swung the filter out when the Tungsten key was inserted.

Re: 400' r8 direct from Kodak?
You can buy R8 film direct from Kodak, but the minimum order quantity is a little more than 400'. For E100D, the minimum purchase is 20 400' rolls, at a cost of $141.92 each. For Tri-X reversal, the minimum purchase is 5 400' rolls, at a cost of $86.69 each. Both of these are "finish-to-order&q...

Walmart/Fuji never processed B&W through their courier service. As for the E100D service, it was recently discontinued. See here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=22576

Re: Walmart ceases Super 8 processing
Yes it is a little more expensive, but whoever shoots Super 8 or Regular 8 because it's cheap? What is it, maybe $10 more for a couple cartridges every few months? Sounds like a deal to me. If you shoot more you'd get a savings in postage probably. I calculated it out, and for the first cartridge, ...

Re: Walmart ceases Super 8 processing
I am located in the Philadelphia area, and the film went to Fuji in NC for transfer to Dwayne's. Walmart refused to process the film, and I was given an official Fuji notice that said that the film was refused because it is an unsupported format. I called Fuji this afternoon and talked with the cust...
