Beaulieus that have sat around for 20+ years generally need service. Would you buy a 1975 car thats been unused all that time and just drive with it as is without a tune up? Beaulieu is the only company out there still supporting their S8 cameras which is a small miracle when you think about it. Bea...

You should be fine about the camera running correctly if came from Bavaria. The filters inside (if they have not been removed, better check) are the 85 daylight filter and a clear UV filter. The 85 filter is in position normally for outdoor shooting with tungsten film (Kodachrome 40). Inserting the ...

Re: MD

The Sharp "Sounds" great too. Yes, both Sony and Sharps sound great. I listened to both For your inf: The MZ R700 & 900 is almost identical in size except for a "bump" on the rear making room for the difference in battery type. Guess it depends on the individual tastes. The ...

The Sharp MT-877 is way smaller than the Sony MZ-R700. The Sony MZR900 (or 909) is closer in size. I can vouch for the Sharp since I use it all the time. Some of the Negatives are: tiny buttons on the unit (though the remote can control most functions), To set to line out you turn the volume to max ...

main problem with manual gain on MD's seems to be that they are hard to use so its probably not very easy if even possible to ride it while recording, although I have never had the chance to try. This is where Sharp MD units are superior to the Sony's. I have a Sharp MT-877 and there is only manual...

buy from ebay

I like to buy from ebay cause if the seller states things like NOS, never used, works like new you can at least put in a claim and get up to $175 from ebay if the camera is no where near the description.

The manual for the 1048, 2056, 3048 and 3056 Nizo cameras say to use 1.5v AA batteries.

Keep in mind that for years people have stated that East coast Walmarts have a history of not being able to send out Kodachrome to Dwaynes.

Projector focus adjustment

My Elmo projector is no longer holding focus from edge to edge. I can focus one side but the other goes out and vice versa. I played a bit with the pressure plate screws but it doesn't seem to do anything. This is the GS-1200 model, Any tips?

Elmo SP-F

The Elmo SP-F may be the model for you. It has 2 sprockets guides and 2 frame claw. It is dual guage and it achieves this since there are 2 sets of "teeth" on each sprocket (one for S8 and one for R8) The guage selector moves the sprockets to line up the correct teeth to the guage. The len...

huh!

Clearly these people who say not to lubricate your film don't know Kodachrome very well. When you shoot Kodachrome its for life cause it will outlast you and stay in mint condition. My experience is that non lubricated film becomes a dust magnet which will eventually scratch the film to death. Use a...

I have ordered the mailers from Adorama a few times. Shipping is a flat $7 or so. So you best order a bunch to water it down. Shipping costs to Kodak when using a mailer is simply a one way postage cost to New Jersey. For me it's 74 cents. There is no addtional shipping to that, it just comes back t...

Canon DS8 "sync" socket

The socket you refer to is on all the Canon DS8's. Are you sure that it is referencing one "click" per frame? Below is a link the the DS-8's circuit board diagram. To anyone who knows electronics well, is the tape recorder socket (upper left of diagram) really acting like a flash contact? ...

Re: Autom B function on Nizo 801

Hi, can anybody tell me something about the 'autom B' function on Nizo 801? Is it the same as the 'B' function in still camera where you can expose frames up to several seconds? If so, how can I do it? Yes, its the same. All you do is lock open the shutter by moving the red variable shutter lever u...
