There is no noticeable difference, the only problem you may encounter is if you record in long play mode and playing it back in a different camera or deck, you might get the occassional digital video/ audio dropouts, or your non linear editing software will have trouble reading the timecode tracks, ...

Kodachrome II
Hello Tom, Had the same experience, except with K40 that was sitting in a Canon 518 that I bought at the flea market. I was surprised when the film came back from Switzerland, seeing shots of some lady getting out of her car, and then the same lady hanging up her washing, it all came out very well, ...

Arriflex st orange viewfinder
Hi Jean, Nice camera! Was it expensive? At one secondhand shop here in Hong Kong they have a Arri st body going for US$300, pity there are no lenses with it otherwise I would just hand over the cash immediately. My wild guess of that yellow cast in the viewfinder is the cement that they use for glue...

Eclair ACL
Hi Eric,
I have only used the Eclair ACL and would say it's very very quiet because its designed for shooting double system sync sound. Image quality is superb also. Another camera worth looking into is the Cinema Products CP16, quiet, reliable, and affordable.

Editing
Hello Regular 8, Excellent record of a very nice day out! Editing wise I prefer to start with the shot of the people walking towards the castle rather than the bridge shot at the very beginning, some of the cut-aways were cut rather short and could be left on just a second or two longer, and may be ...

Hi MusicAlly and Ed, Use to live and work there. Dunno what the latest scene is right now but there are festivals and cinemas that show indie films. Super 8 ( or anything else for that matter ) is cheaper south of the border. For equipment and stuff look in yard sales, flea markets, Value village ( ...

How old are you?
Happy belated birthday Basstruc! May all your wildest birthday wishes come true! As it happens, it was my birthday yesterday. I was born two years after Paillard introduced the Bolex H16 Reflex, or the exact year when they brought out the Canon Reflex Zoom 8-2 standard 8 camera. So, there you go. Bu...

K40 DS 8 footage
Hello Paul, I know what you mean about noise from the Canon DS 8, mine sure sounds like a sewing machine! The Canon is one of those great documentary cameras and I am sure if I pick it up I can't put it down. But it is heavy and a little awkard to handhold for any length of time.Think I do what you ...

It's getting a bit out of hand, luckily I have a very understanding wife, got her interested too. She prefers the Bolexes and Beaulieus rather then the modern German or Japanese cameras. My list of movie making related gear:- Super 8 cameras Agfa Moviematic C100 Bauer C4 Beaulieu 4008 ZM II Beaulieu...

K40 DS 8 footage
Hi Paul,
The footage of the band looks impressive, more like 16mm. Couldn't wait to shoot some footage with my Canon DS8 that I got about a year ago!

Canon 1218 Autozoom
I have one of these in good condition. Haven't film tested the camera though, got it for US$50 with the original hard case from a secondhand store that was closing down. 100 Euros is a good buy for one in good order. To a collector, they are worth 150 Euros or more. This particular model are not as ...
