I think the softness is due to poor lens performance at the f22 f-stop. Filming in daylight with 100 asa film will be a challenge. I will shoot my next roll with the shutter angle close down so I can shoot with a lower f-stop. I am using a DC light source so the brightness variation must be somethin...

Kodak 100D DS8 Clip
Here is a short clip of some 100D DS8 I shot a few weeks ago in my Canon DS8. I processed it at Dewaynes and transfered it on my home telecine. The file format is MPEG2.

My vote is still for a K-3 conversion to DS8. It would be much cheaper and have a mirror reflex viewfinder. I think it could easily be done for less then $2000 including the K-3. Anyone want to help desgin it? I have contact with several great machine shops that could do the parts... Regards, Paul C...

I am running my G4 Mac Mini strait into my Sanyo Z4 HD projector via a DVI to HDMI digital connection. I also run my digital cable box into the projectors HDMI and switch between them with a HDMI A-B switch box. I am very happy with this setup and I hope to be able to watch compressed 720P HD footag...

Re: I am the WINNER!
You sure got the deal of the century on that camera! I just received my first processed roll of 100D back from Dwaynes and I am blown away by the saturated color and fine grain. I shot it in my brother’s back yard which has a nice shadow after about 1PM that makes it look like "Magic Hou...

I just received an email from Dewanes that my film has been processed and is on it's way back by first class mail. I shipped it to them Monday afternoon, and it’s already processed! I told them not to split it so they only charged the 16mm rate of $0.24 per foot. The total including return sh...

I work for a Houston based airline (it starts with a C) :D I fly around the USA and the rest of the world doing on site audits (inspections) of repair stations that service and repair all the different mechanical parts of our aircraft. I like to say that I get paid to watch other people work 8) I wr...

I designed a reusable super-8 sound cart, but no one was interested in actually buying one. I posted pictures in the gallery of the CAD drawings I have done. Honestly this question pops up from time to time, but when it comes down to it most folks are only willing to discuss it. I can tell you for s...

Nice, I have the same idea in mind. It’s easy to make film 16mm wide. It’s hard to keep the edge of the film exactly the right distance from the ds8 perforations, then the opposite edge the proper distance from the second row of perforations, and keep the width perfectly within SMPTE s...

The machine is designed to use the 35mm perforations to move the film so I cant use unperforated stock. Regards, Paul Cotto Wow, looks like a pretty serious piece of gear!!! I can perforate the film, but not cut it down. Hmm, might it be possible to find a source of cut but unperforated 16mm? For ex...

It's pretty much in the same stage of completion as below, only it’s painted black now. I still have all the parts of the machine in my garage. The stopping point for me was that I can’t figure out how to cut the 35mm down to 16mm wide with the precision needed to meet the SMPTE spec. ...
