Re: Gauge Film - times slots?

I've used Gauge Film quite a few times and, at present, have a film there. It was filmed on 22 May, so missed the deadline 22 May, 1pm. Hence it got into the pile of all films received by the following deadline (12 June) which then get processed and scanned during the following three weeks, and it s...

Normally I would agree. But somehow, I was glad about my lightweight (2kg or thereabout) travel tripod when I walked around 10 miles in the sun yesterday to shoot my last cartridge of Ektachrome 100D.

Re: 500T in Adelaide city street at night

Thanks a lot, Patrick, that looks great.

For years, a couple of 500T cartridges have been lingering in my fridge. Maybe it's time to use them - and you've given me some ideas.

Re: Canon 814 super8 - Battery Corrosion - doesn't work. Repair $ cost?

Which 814 are you looking at? If it's an AutoZoom 814 Electronic like the one I've got, I would have thought 129 dollars should buy you a working camera. Similar for the older non-electronic AutoZoom 814. If, on the other hand, you're looking at an 814 XL-S, 129 dollars may still be a fair price for...

Re: Bolex 525XL info?

Not sure if it's of any help, but I've got a Bolex 551XL Sound Super 8 camera of the same era. The manual/auto exposure knob is located next to the fps selector knob - and the run-lock knob happens to be in the handgrip. Going through the whole lot: Top row, left-hand side, from lens to eyepiece: kn...

Re: Canon Autozoom 814 electronic not working?

Alex, yours must have been a different model. I've got a Canon Autozoom 814 E, and it's definitely content with 4 AA batteries. As for the cover of the battery compartment, it's a pretty basic piece of plastic with a metal plate on the inside and a large screw. Shouldn't be impossible to find some D...

Welcome to the forum, JJ.

I can't help you with any information on the camera, but when it comes to a UK supplier for Regular 8mm, try Gauge Film:

Re: What have you been working on lately?

Not much happening 8mm-wise for me, except that I've edited a couple of travel films for a public talk on 'The Delights of Slow Travel'. One was a short trip from Bristol/England to Cologne/Germany via the Portsmouth-Caen ferry crossing, recorded on Standard 8 with Ektachrome 100D - see https://vime...

You can find instructions here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=16261

Haven't tried these out myself, as I only have one Bolex B8 which still runs for about 20-30 seconds with a full wind-up, but it looks like it's worked for others.

Good luck,

Haven't heard of this one before, but the address is the same as Andec's, and Andec offers all those scanning etc. services.

Will the dirt in the camera gate be supplied free of charge - or will we have to pay extra for it?

Anyway, glad to hear at last some news about their new camera - and I do hope and trust that it will be capable of producing better footage than this!

Re: Kodak rumors - new film stocks and hardware

Interesting comments on Ektachrome 125. When I started shooting Standard 8 (in 2007), this film stock was the one I used on the first couple of rolls. I didn't think of it as terrible, although I agree that 100D was a lot better in pretty much every respect, such as colours, contrast and sharpness. ...

Welcome to the forum, Pablo!

If you go to http://super8arena.com/camera_manuals.php and scroll down the list to 'Canon 814 Autozoom Electronic', you can download a manual for it, which will answer most of your questions.
