Re: Kodak stops production of Ektachrome 100D
I called to ask about a special order and the response was "what part of discontinued don't you understand?" so it sounds unlikely. The owner of the lab was pesimistic that the order would ever be filled. The guy that actually spoke to the rep said that Kodak was not planning on opening i...

Re: Kodak stops production of Ektachrome 100D
I was at the lab I usually deal with today getting one of my last cartridges of 7285 processed. This probably isn't really new news, but the lab said their Kodak rep suggested they put an order in for more, and they ordered both 16mm and Super8. Apparently the rep said Kodak under estimated the dema...

Re: Bolex Malfunction?
Have you exposed any DS8 100D? From experiance over the years, kodaks QC is top notch, if 100d transports ok, then i would possibly suspect the filmstock. Yes, actually on the same shoot I was using the ORWO. Only the ORWO had problems. The 100D was fine. Who is splitting the ORWO , wittner or orwo...

Re: Bolex Malfunction?
Check also if the screws securing the sprockets to their shafts are fully tightened. Jean-Louis I did check this straight away as you suggested. All were snug except one I think has a cam out. So, I did a registration test. It does seem a little jumpy--more so than when I first received it back fro...

Re: How to fix perf damage?
I finally got around to fixing this little project. I used a very old, now defunct, stabilization program called SteadyMove which was able to stabilize without scaling, pan and tilts, at the touch of a button. This was the last Kodachrome I shot.

Re: Bolex Malfunction?
Thanks for your feedback guys. I might add that the distorted shots are on the head of that particular DS8 roll. Then I turned the spool over and shot on the tail side which has no distortion. Then I shot another roll which also had no distortion. My original thought was that I left the pressure pla...

Bolex Malfunction?
Here is some footage I shot a week ago using a Bolex H8 Rex4 modified to DS8 about a decade ago. The camera has never had a problem so far. I'm perplexed how this can happen mid-shot. In fact, I'm not sure what it is. I shot about 150 feet of film prior and 50 feet after. All had no problems except ...

Re: Just Outta Curiosity: Film or digital
That is an excellent transfer to digital. The scanner looks a little expensive, but your sample is very good.kuparikettu wrote:The funny thing is, you get much better quality out of 35mm stills by buying Nikon LS-2000, introduced 1998 than by having your films scanned in a local lab.

Re: Foma Processing?
it may be that it has a greater propencity to occur in highlight areas, and the blown out flash is a highlight.rt Exactly so, Richard. Keith, the owner of Yale called it "streaking", and showed the fogged blown-out segments all had that bifurcated chiaroscuro---I guess it is a little sola...

Re: Dishwashed film
From what he is saying it sounds like he puts the film through the camera while it is quite dirty. I would not be wild about trying it on a movie camera, but the idea is intriguing.
