You'll have to experiment. Handling of the color negative film that you are printing onto must be in total darkness. You can't use a red safelight such as you'd use when contact printing onto an orthochromatic film. Let's see, you want to increase halation, not avoid it as one normally would when co...

Sounds very interesting. Babelfish did a fair enough job of translating the article. Enough that I could get the gist of it, anyway. For a non-professional amatuer or home-movie shooter like me with no large budget to spend, it would be nice to be able to shoot some of the negative stocks, then cont...

Thanks, Marc. Those previous threads of yours were very enlightening. The focus on each of my lenses works ok, although it is a bit stiff. I can see the lens moving in and out at the back. It's difficult to see with the 5.5mm since it moves so slightly, but it definitely moves. I can also see the ol...

Storing Bolex clockwork cameras
I've got three Bolex cameras, a H16 Reflex, an older H16 non-reflex, and a H8 Reflex. When stored, is it better to have the clockwork spring tensioned or not?

Re: lenses
The spool adapters are only needed for the 100ft rolls, right? Not for the 25ft ones?regular8mm wrote:It WILL work without the spool adapters, but I got them anyway - from Chambless.

I'm just a casual shooter using my cameras like my parents did many years ago to record home movies and anything that catches my interest. I might take one or another of my cameras to a park during my lunch break and film a couple of minutes of random activity, people walking or jogging, dogs, stree...

I'm in the US. Thank you both for the repair suggestions. Whoever owned this Bolex H8 Reflex before me took extraordinarily good care of the glass, even though the lens barrels are stiff, possibly from long disuse. I hope a CLA will improve them mechanically. I have examined the glass closely, and i...
