thanks for the info/explanation. Also, I assume what you say in the quote below, also applies to film thats been exposed but not yet processed. The lower the temperature, the better for film preservation, and the longer it will last. But keep the film sealed in a plastic bag to avoid moisture get in...

Thanks for the info and perspecitive on re-frigding film which I'll now do with my 16mm rolls. The 16mm rolls (100 ft) are in their original plastic containers. Should they be put in a sealed plastic bag for better fridge storage? Also, could anyone respond to the quote below re freezing vs fridge s...

film in fridge
I took out a few rolls of 16mm 7248 from the fridge (100 ft spools) to shoot. (The rolls had been in the fridge over 2 years). I didn't shoot all the rolls and probably won;t need them for a month or more. should I put the unexposed rolls back in the fridge? is it ok to remove and put back the same ...

500T & Nikon R10
I accidentally loaded & shot a roll of super-8 500T (thinking it was 200T) with my Nikon R10, shooting auto exposure (outdoors 3pm, woodsy area mainly shady with sun beam light). I didn't notice the mistake until I took the roll out of the camera, although I did notice during shooting that some ...

Chair/table recommendations for FCP editing
I have been having problems with my knees and back (especially at my hips) when I’m Final Cut Pro editing at my usual chair/table. Right now I'm computer editing on a large table from Ikea. Can anyone recommend a good type/brand of chair and table for long stretches of computer editing? Any a...

As the days dwindle down on k-40 swiss lab processing, an update for any toronto filmmakers. I spoke to a Qual-x supervisor a few days a go who assured me any Kodachrome s-8 film received up to and including Sept 15 will be sent to the Switzerland lab, (Anything after this date will be forwarded to ...

I've never shipped super-8 k-40 directly to the Swiss lab. How is it best/safest to ship s-8 film to them (from Toronto/Canada), via courier or regular mail? What is their shipping address/contact info? How long would it take, and do they mail it directly back to your home? How many filmmakers out t...

Last time I checked Forde labs in Seattle (recently merged with Alpha Cine) does both VNF and E-6 Ecktachrome processing. I believe they are set up to run 64 T and 7240 in seperate machines. confirm with them to make sure thats still the case. Most labs that process both VNF and E-6 s-8 films in pro...

Extended k-40: to swiss lab or Dwaynes
Re the extended deadline by Kodak to process super-8 k-40, I assumed that meant for cerified processing at the Switzerland lab. I called Qual-X today (from Toronto) with a question about kodachrome slide film (which Dwaynes will be processing as of the middle of August) and also asked where Qual-X i...

Toronto filmmakers: Kodachrome request
Toronto filmmakers: I'm doing some shooting in the next few weeks and was wondering if there are any Toronto filmmakers out there who want to sell some rolls of super-8 Kodachrome. I’m looking for 1-2 rolls (or more). I can pick it up. Part of the shooting is next week, so I’m looking ...

The good news: A few days ago I picked up 3 processed rolls of super-8 kodachrome ( at a Pharma Plus in Toronto) with a 2.5 week turnaround. (dropped off at the end of May). The Bad news: I'm still waiting for 2 rolls of super-8 k-40 film I dropped off for processing on May 3rd (three weeks before t...
