Re: Eco friendly bleach

Indeed you can. The developer you use doesn't impact the bleach you use.
Note however Riccardo's eco bleach formula you quote there is unreliable. Sometimes it will cause a lot of bubbles in the emulsion. Just sayin'. But use ity by all means.

Re: R9 bleach

Yes indeed if its 48 or whatever percent just use twice as much. If it were 20% use 5 times as much. Battery acid is usually about this strength. You are quite correct. Of course instead of sulphuric acid you can use 65 grams per ltre of sodium bisulphate. This is available from swimming pool soda a...

Do note that the auricon in the eBay link doesn't have an amp for the optical sound. That amp is for magnetic striped film

Re: Can I shoot 500 T with my autoexposure-only camera?

Sure you can. In low light, a camera that does 'read' 500t would specify the widest aperture anyway. So even if your camera doesn't read the size of the 500t notch, as long as it's low light it will be fine.

Re: Hello from FILM Ferrania!

And is it a clear acetate base or a grey base? It's bw negative film which is usually on a grey base but they may not have grey. Clear would make it better for reversal use. It's a grey base. You can see it pretty clearly here: http://www.filmferrania.it/news/2016/in-the-loop You have grey acetate ...

Re: Hello from FILM Ferrania!

Regarding perforation, however, it is a matter of Ferrania having the time and resources to set them up. They plan on that of course. But not all battles can be fought at once. Ferrania have said that they are prioritising emulsion making and coating in the first instance. That makes sense and is un...

Re: Any way to do sync sound?

Well, with a lot of money you could buy a GS1200 projector which is capable of being slaved to an external pulse track. Not just money but also a lot of fiddling and effort I'm afraid. But there is a sense in which it is theoretically possible.

You website seems to be down. Maybe maintenance overnight or something.

But I worked back from a previous update and found ...

YOU GUYS HAVE MADE A PANCHROMATIC FILM STOCK! How excellent! That is real progress. Well done!

Re: UN54 R8 developing tips wanted

Hi I think you will probably find that d76 is too low contrast a developed for bw reversal. It will give you a positive but it will bad a low contrast positive. Even dektol (4 min 21 degrees) is too low contrast. Most diy users mix up d19 for bw reversal. If it has to be an off the shelf developer t...

Re: Hello from FILM Ferrania!

Hi David, thanks for joining this forum! I agree heartily that 'something beautiful' is the correct objective over technical specs. It also makes a lot of sense that as the company progresses with making batches of emulsion, there might be the possibility to improve it or change some of its properti...

Re: Film exposed at the beginning of the reel?

At 18 fps you would need to shoot for 0.16 seconds to get past the 3 frames that are already exposed. There are about five frames in total that are exposed, but the first lets say two frames are already past the center of the film window so no need to count them! In short, no, you don't need to worr...

Re: Could use a little help processing film as reversal.

Yes that's d19. Since Kodak stopped making it most people who use it now mix their own. It's cheap and easy to mix your own. Yes dektol is a paper dev. It's only advantage for reversal processing is that it is available prepackaged. Otherwise it is less than optimal. You can't get d94a prepackaged e...
