Chryskylodon Blues: Super 8 BTC

I looked on the site if this was posted already, but didn't see it listed. Director Paul Thomas Anderson had someone document in Super 8 the making of his film Inherent Vice, which was based on the trippy, early 70's era , detective novel by cult writer Thomas Pynchton. The voice over is read straig...

The Mysterious Disappearance of M.M. Bayliss - 16mm short

Very nice article and Q&A over at Nofilmschool.com on the making of the film. The storyboard comparisons and "making of" video are good too.

Re: My new B&W 16mm music video

Great video. The image of the Neko lucky cat moving along the alley was brilliant! Twenty years ago MTV would of played this right along with other 16mm/ super 8 videos like Veruca Salts "Seether" or Smashing Pumpkins " Cherub Rock". What was the total budget for this?

Re: Spiderman: Bye digital hello film

The most annoying thing here is that they're generating the 3D version in post production. They then charge $5€ more to see a dim CG modified 3D version. Are you annoyed because their converting it to 3D or their not shooting it with 3D cameras? Personally, I don't like the format but if peop...

7 Jeans spot

James Franco shot a fashion spot mostly in super 8 and 16mm. Here's the spot itself and the making of:

Re: Lomography introduces handcranked 35mm Lomokino Movie Ca

Many people have missed the point of granfer posts. You are one of them. Granfer is not criticizing the use of the LOMO. He is criticizing the way many got excited about it as though it is something novel and the best thing that has ever happened to humanity after the invention of the alphabet. Thi...

Re: Lomography introduces handcranked 35mm Lomokino Movie Ca

OMG! Here we go again! Are you for REAL? Suddenly, LOMO is being hailed as the potential saviour of the amateur and professional Motion Picture Camera industry.... and all over a TOY!!! And we have the BRILLIANT idea of adding a MOTOR to the TOY, as if REAL 35mm still cameras with motor drives have...

Re: Lomography introduces handcranked 35mm Lomokino Movie Ca

Very interesting and yeah you will see this used in music videos and commercials. The Lomo company has been growing steadily over the last few years so I wouldn't bee surprised if they put out some sort of full-on super 8 or 16mm camera. Maybe even 35mm as they're already halfway to making a Eymo fr...

Re: Kodak

If Kodak years ago would of started an affordable service that would include processing and scanning/ or video transfer for each roll of film a customer buys, they might not be in as much hot water as they now are. But they didn't and film has grown more and more expensive and digital has become bot...

Re: New Super 8 multi-camera live music video shot with V3 5

CJ,

How much better do you think FCP 7 is in regard to syncing up non crystal synch speed cameras then previous versions? And of so, do you think a digital slate would of made a difference if the band was playing for the cameras from a recorded track( like most music video productions do).

Re: Anyone going to see Super 8, the movie?

I read in one of the cinematographer mags, that they did shoot some super 8( with a Pro 8 camera) and wanted to shoot more, but had to rely on a SR3 as the FX people at Lucasfilms said there were some GCI issues with the format( the article didn't say why) Supposedly JJ Abrams and his DP were pretty...

Re: Super 8 or 16?

Honestly, these days it's about the same price wise for either formart. Although with 100D is may be a buck less if your a student go directly through Kodak and have your processing done at Walmart( unless Dwayne has stopped dealing with them). As to whatever is the better format, you really need to...

Re: Erykah Badu Gets Butt-Nekked On Super 8

Cops won't do anything because they didn't catch her in the act but I'm not quite sure why that maters if there are scores of witnesses and a film for evidence. It may not look like it, but it was indeed a professional shoot with a hired crew, extras and permits to film at the location. Even her &q...
