Were regular 8mm film synchronizers ever made?

Were synchronizers for regular 8mm ever made? I wonder if it's worth my time checking eBay for one Thanks to eBay, I recently acquired a Super-8 3-gang synchronizer for my 8mm/Super-8 bench. Basically, I'm using it to measure feet/frames of large reels of Super8 (300ft to 600ft). For measuring regul...

Can you monitor levels while using RetroScan app?

I have a RetroScan Universal Mark I with the 2K camera, and a 'Windows-10' computer with an i7 processor and a 4GB RAID-0 for capture of scans. I post on an iMac with Davinci Resolve. I'm frustrated with trying to 'nail' a good exposure when scanning. I've had to redo sections of a reel where the re...

Question about image sensor bias lighting.

I remember a discussion in Anton Wilson's Cinema Workshop book about 'flashing' filmstock to improve the capture of dark detail of the captured image. 'Flashing' consists of exposing the film to a very weak level of light in addition to the image being exposed. The flashing light can be 'white' ligh...

Re: Universal TrueView stability addressed plus Pixel Fix!

Thank you, Roger 👏 I can now make the capture window big enough by stacking my monitors over/under, then filling the top screen width-wise with the RetroScan software, and dragging the bottom of that window onto the lower screen until the capture window just touches the bottom of upper monitor. Now ...

Re: Customer review: Universal 2K

For 8mm and 16mm films, is the 2K upgrade really worth it? They are kinna low quality films. 2K is more for 35mm films. Any video showing the vast improvements over the old camera? I'm also waiting for example videos of the 2K camera in action, but until then... The lower noise/higher dynamic range...

Motor belt for Elmo 912/S Super-8 editor

I'm looking for a replacement belt for an Elmo 912/S Super-8 sound editor. The belt goes from the motor shaft to a larger pulley attached to ( I think) the flywheel. http://www.filmkorn.org/super8data/database/viewers_list/viewers_image/elmo_912s.jpg I've heard that the Elmo 912/S was made by Goko f...

Re: Universal now offering 2K and Audio modules!

(...)people on a budget looking at a future 2K upgrade will often start with the UltraLite kit. Then later they can simply purchase the 2K camera kit when the need/budget allows. I'm one of those who must stage their purchases. Probably the RetroSync first, then the light, then the camera. I'll be ...

Re: New Universal 2K software release at last!

Can it be installed over the older V3.2.3 software, or do I need to uninstall the older version first?

Does the BIN key I purchased for 3.2.3 key work on the new version?

Re: Audio module for Universal, Retro, Sniper and WorkPrinter units!

Those who have never had to manually sync several thousand feet of audio think the price is too high. Those who have had to sync even a few hundred feet see it as a bargain because they know it will pay for itself the first week they use it. I'm sitting on about 4,000-feet of magnetic-striped S8 I ...
