widened my gate NIZO S800/Canon1014
the 1014 xls wasn't too difficult to modify,, but damn.. the nizo s800 is a real headache!.. it has two baby springs to help keep the film more stable inside the gate (beautiful design) but they're a pain in the butt to get back in, i've almost lost the springs 5 times now, and i finally got it setu...

wow
what about going from a 220 deg shutter to a 150 degree shutter camera? or a 150 to a 75? how will that mess me up? i imagine a 75 degree shutter would produce a much sharper image (which could always be softened up in AE post if i so decide). assuming the NIZO s800's shutter is normally 150, and ha...

cheepest and best process/transfer method
hey now, I'm shooting k40 and was planning on getting it with the mailer and then getting it transferred at flying spot. I have tried the transfer at Exclusive in Toronto and wasn't too happy with the results. (they transfer via a 5 bladed shutter not a rank). I was thinking i may be better off tryi...

MULTIPLE camera shoot advice.
hey hey, i have 3 cameras to choose from a SANKYO xl620, NIZO s800 and a canon 1014xls. what is the best means of getting the same exposure on all cameras, should they all match up fairly similarly regarding image quality with their glass elements? i've shot some tests with the sankyo and the canon ...

ruined film from k40 mailer?!
hey, sent out my film through shoppers drug mart in toronto using the k40 mailer, and the 2 rolls i got back both had this problem. the last 6-8 feet had punctures in the centre of the frame about every foot or so. The film wasn't completely punctured, but when watching it through the projector, it ...

1014xls cleaning
hey john, i have a similar problem with my 1014xls, it runs at 9 and 24 and 36 fps, but won't run at 1 fps. i tried to get the camera apart, but have had problems removing the full plate on the side, it seems to be attached around the bottom of the camera and i didn't want to pry at it to open in ca...

projection-which to buy..
i'm looking at getting a sankyo 700 to project my own films at home, i'd also like to use it for telecine transfers, pending the quality of the projection (and flicker issues). i can get one for about $175 including shipping, and i would like to know if it'd be worth the investment, or if i should s...

how about it you're shooting @ 24fps, or 36fps?... i use my meter in cine mode and that way i can adjust my fps rather than my shutter speed, however, when doing so i cannot adjust my shutter angle... is there a calculation for figuring out the light loss for when you change your shutter angle? than...

light metering with shutter angles
if you are metering with a seperate light meter, and you adjust your shutter angle, how do you compensate on your light meter for the adjustment?.. is it like a 1 stop difference..? thanks. ... i wish there was a way to stop down the shutter angle to on the 1014xl-s to ..say.. 1/45 to get that reall...
