just spoke with a lens technician. he said this is a normal problem with zoom lenses. He said your best bet is to focus to the split focus in the viewfinder at the zoom distance that you are using, and not to trust crash focusing (zoom in focus, zoom back), and also not to trust the distance marking...

hey scott, what made your beaulieu more flexible than your 814? i was looking at a 5006 but i couldn't justify what features it had that made it better than my 1014. i think a 4008zmII may have some features that the 5006 doesn't have ... maybe someone here could clarify? 1014- 1.4 lens 150/220 deg ...

c-8 telephoto for 1014 =shallower DOF?

hey, I got offered a c-8 telephoto adapter for 100US and am thinking of purchasing it :P... I would be using it in hopes that it would give me shallower DOF, by giving me a longer telephoto lens. I am worried though, that i may lose quality becuase of the added lens. Is it a worthy investment in any...

workprinter xp vs. sniper

the sniper records the frames directly and bypasses the need for a condenser lens, therefore giving a better resolution image than the workprinter? I'm assuming this is right because the cost is so much higher, there must be a reason for it. Would it be better to upgrade to the solo scanning unit or...

i've heard that you can 'easily' modify the potentiometer to project @ 20 fps for telecine, but maybe i'd be better off just getting a workprinter... only thing making the choice hard for me is when i look at "sleep always" they did their own telecine by modifying their projector and doing...

nizo 800/561 or 4080 which is the best?

hey, I currently own a s800, but was interested in upgrading to a 561 or a 4080. main reason: Auto B setting and Macro features. would anyone not recommend upgrading, is it worth it or not? anyone with experience with these cameras or other nizo models? May be a better bet to get a bauer royal for t...

do you lose contrast or latitude when transfering to video via workprinter or 5 bladed projector?

I'm under the assumption that you would lose some detail in the black blacks and the hot whites because of the nature of the latitude of video being a couple stops less than film.

comments?

what features does the leicna have comparable to a nizo or a beauleau or canon 1014?

shooting speeds/
timelapse options/
shutter angles?

i love the quality of the 1014, but it lacks the options that the nizo 800 has to offer.
